Pemberton Equifest Announces Live Auction Items

Equifest is pleased to announce live and silent auction items for its upcoming event. The event held Saturday September 6, 2008 at the Equifest (Rohan Farms - Clover Road). The Live Auction is held after Dinner and before the Dance on Saturday night at the new recreation centre, Portage Road, Pemberton.

PEMBERTON FESTIVAL
Congratulations to Live Nation for a very successful Pemberton Festival! To the many volunteers and staff who worked tirelessly, and the Pemberton residents who welcomed our visitors, a special THANK YOU!

PEMBERTON FOUNDATION
As a result of the very successful Pemberton Festival. Live Nation is donating $106,000 to the Pemberton Foundation for distribution in the form of grants to qualifying community organizations. ROTARY / CHAMBER GOLF TOURNAMENT
On September 19 the Rotary Club of Pemberton Centennial and the Pemberton & District Chamber of Commerce will be joining together to sponsor their 3rd Golf Tournament to be held at The Meadows at Pemberton. Get more information and download a registration / sponsorship form.

PEMBERTON EQUIFEST 2008
The Annual Pemberton Equifest is scheduled for September 6 & 7 at Rohan Stables on Clover Road. This family event features Gymkana games, demonstrations, cattle cutting, team sorting, team roping, away roping, mutton busting, archery, D'Arcy 4-h Achievement Day, hoof & woof obstacle, speed jumping plus a solar powered road show, horse power car show and a Dinner & Dance on Sept. 6 at the Community Centre with the "Clumsy Lovers Band" For detailed info go to www.pembertonequifest.com.

SLOW FOOD CYCLE SUNDAY
Congratulations to the organizers of the Slow Food Cycle Sunday which unofficially apparently had 2,100 participants.

Birken Summerfest – a Family Event

family-picnic.jpgTime: From noon until noon, Saturday/Sunday, August 23/24, 2008

Location: Willowcraft Farm, 8946 Pemberton Portage Road, Poole Creek (about 25 kilometres northeast of Pemberton towards D’Arcy)

Parking and Camping: on site (with overflow parking across the highway on the dead end road)

Dogs: Please leave your dogs at home (there are farm animals and there are several dogs on the farm already)

Proceeds: Any proceeds earned over and above expenses to be earmarked for making improvements to the Birken Community Centre/Old Log Schoolhouse (e.g., plumbing, landscaping)

Admission: By donation (be generous; this is a costly undertaking)

Food:

  • potluck supper on Saturday (bring your favorite culinary delight),
  • admission includes a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning (note that the Birken Saturday Market mentioned below will have its usual BBQ concession)
  • please bring your own dishes and cutlery (there’s enough garbage in the landfill already)

Events:

  • Camping on site
  • Birken Saturday Market on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with local craftspeople/vendors and a BBQ food concession
  • Children’s and families’ activities on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning including face painting, a “bouncy castle”, dancing the limbo and other spirited dances, playing together and running around this rural farm setting with its animals, children’s climbing apparatus, etc.
  • DJ Milton from about 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday
  • Firespinners doing several performances over the evening
  • D’ale and the Coolers (a five piece band) from about 9:00 p.m. until midnight on Saturday
  • Papa Josh from about midnight until the wee hours
  • Rob Elliot’s Light Show all night long
  • And other things that are not known or thought about as of this writing

NEW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WEBSITE

Pemberton EDCAlexandra Ross, our Economic Development Consultant, is pleased to announce that the new Pemberton Economic Development website which is now online at www.edcpemberton.com.

This website was built by Pemberton's Custom Fit Online Solutions using a content management system and integrated blog that allows easy management of the website by Pemberton EDC personnel without any technical knowledge and limited training. Learn more about the Pemberton EDC site's technical capabilities.

SPECIAL PROJECTS GRANT FOR VISITOR CENTRE

Pemberton Visitor Info CentreThe Pemberton Visitor Centre is pleased to announce the creation of a new computer system. This new special projects upgrade will enhance the visitor experience at the VC and improve tourism in the community.

The new office equipment was made possible through a $3,550 Special Projects grant from Tourism British Columbia. Tourism British Columbia makes Special Projects funding available to Visitor Centres for projects and services that will enhance the visitor experience and services at the Visitor Centre.

The Pemberton Visitor Centre is one of 109 community-operated Visitor Centres across the province.

Visitor Centres are community operated under the direction of Tourism British Columbia. Tourism British Columbia is a Crown corporation that operates under an industry-led board of directors and is responsible for marketing the Super, Natural British Columbia® brand to the world.

Birken Country Market - July 19, 2008

A reminder - the next Birken Country Market is scheduled for Saturday July 19th - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come and enjoy the local photography, crafts, fresh baked goods, and garden delights! Bask in the summer sun alongside Gates Lake while listening to the tunes of live music performed by Dawn and Carmen.

Still room for new vendors...
