Slow Food Cycle Sunday,
Sunday, August 19/2007

Pemberton's signature agritourism event! A 'FREE' community bike-ride through the Pemberton Valley to meet the local food growers, artisans and farmers, and sample their wares. A self-propelled adventure styled as a reverse Farmer's Market-taking the people to the farms!

Slow Food Cycle SundayTime/Location:
9am to 4pm
Pemberton Meadows Road, starting at the Community Centre.
Bring your bike, your appetite and cash, and graze your way up the valley.

Some things to remember:
-The route is 25 km out and back, making a 50 km return trip. You can turn around at any point. There is plenty of food for sale but last year many farmers sold out and depending on attendance it could happen again. Consider bringing your own snacks.
- Last year we were blessed by Mother Nature with a warm and sunny day. Please remember to bring hats, water and whatever else will help you enjoy your day outside.
- Most farmers don't have credit or debit processing capabilities in their barns and farms, so avoid disappointment and bring cash if you intend to purchase some local products.
- We will be offering a grocery delivery service for a small fee. More details to come on this great, back-saving help! Now you can buy that side of beef or 10 lbs of potatoes that you were eyeing last year.

Pemberton Mountain Film Festival
Part of the Pemberton Winterfest Celebrations

The Pemberton area is a Mecca for the mountain adventure sports enthusiasts and is home to many who are interested in the artistic, cultural and social aspects of life in non-urban areas of the world and the Pemberton Mountain Film Festival (PMFF) will seek to showcase a combination of some of the best commercial and amateur films centered on the world of adventure sports and mountain life, in its broadest context.

The PMFF will be hosted at the Copperdome Lodge, located in the Pemberton Meadows. The Copperdome Lodge proudly offers a newly transformed schoolhouse that provides a recently renovated multi-purpose training facility and theatre for 50 or more people. The Copperdome Lodge is located in a rural setting surrounded by both verdant farmland and the towering peaks of the Coast Mountains - an ideal setting for the PMFF.

The PMFF will run for three nights during the Winterfest celebration, February 11th 12th and 13th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, providing an exciting mid-week addition to the action packed Winterfest calendar. Each evening will showcase a number of short to mid-length movies showcasing films in the following themes:

ABOUT PEMBERTON CHILDREN'S CENTRE

Opened in February 2008, the Pemberton Children’s Centre provides much-needed child care for working families in the community and serves children beginning at 11 months, for full-day or half-day care. While the Pemberton Children’s Centre receives some government funding, they rely primarily on program fees and donations from the private and corporate sectors. Bottom line…they need your help!

The Pemberton Childcare Society, which oversees the operation of the Children’s Center, is a registered non-profit organization and contributions are tax deductible. For more information, visit www.pembertonchildrenscentre.com

North Shore Credit Union, The Whistler Grocery Store and the Pemberton Valley Supermarket have been an integral part of the Pemberton community since 2000 and are thrilled to be part of this rewarding project.
