INFO CENTRE CLOSES FOR SEASON
The Pemberton Visitor Info Centre (VIC) closed its doors for the 2005 season on Sept. 30th. The VIC was open 1237 hours
from May - Sept. and served 18,054 visitors up from the 14,782 in 2004. The top visitor origins were: BC, Europe, Other
US/Mexico, Washington and Canada.
Of these visitors 4,224 were same day visitors while 1,393 stayed 1 night, 420 stayed, 2 nights and 94 stayed 3 nights.
The most popular requests for information were transportation, attractions, adventure recreation, parks and accommodation.
Some comments from our visitors;
"Amazing" - Camarillo, Cal.
"Very nice" - Utah & Georgia;
"Lots to see & do! Love B.C." - Stouffville, Ont.
"Very nice area, landscape is gorgeous" - Vienna
"Wonderful country" - Chesterfield, England; "Wonderful place" - Odesse
"Beautiful country & friendly people" - Wheatridge, CO
"Pemberton is a beautiful place" - Washington
"Magnificent" - Boston
"A wealth of information expertly provided" - Germany
"Great campgrounds" - Stayner, Ont.
Visitors came from 22 US States, 10 Provinces and 20 countries.
Our Visitor Info Counsellor Laura Rolandi says;
The most interesting people are those who don’t have an agenda. Joffre Lakes & Nairn Falls are the favorite hiking spots.
Most visitors come as a day trip from Whistler or because they are passing through on their way to Lillooet or Whistler
while others come for the adventure recreation and hotsprings. The most frustrating experience was people not believing
that Meager Hot Springs are closed, and the most memorable comment "Why isn’t the gondola that goes
up Mt. Currie working?"
The current location of the VIC is being vacated and the VIC will be located in another location for 2006. Special thanks
to Tourism BC, Village of Pemberton, Squamish Lillooet Regional District, HRDC and the Chamber for providing funding for
the operation of the VIC.
