Development Corporation of Howe Sound from Western Economic Development.

2005 COMMUNITY TOURISM PROGRAM GRANT
The Village of Pemberton on behalf of Tourism Pemberton has been granted $22,577.95 which is the Phase 1 entitlement for
the Village of Pemberton. The Union of BC Municipalities is administering this program and funding has been provided by
the Province of BC. This funding will be allocated to the new Pemberton Visitor Info Centre. Additional funding has also
been approved by the Squamish Lillooet Regional District from Area C’s tourism funding allocation under this program.
MEAGER HOT SPRINGS
The Directors of the Chamber are concerned that 2 years have now passed and there is still no access to Meager Hot Springs,
our area’s most popular natural tourist attraction. This closure has had a definite economic impact to our community. The
Chamber will continue to lobby for access to this site. Many visitors continue to seek information regarding the hot springs
and are disappointed that they are still not able to visit this popular area.
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
The Chamber would like to welcome new members Ski Remote Horizons and Silhouette Fitness.
AIRPORT CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE
Chamber Director Karen Ross has been appointed to the Village of Pemberton’s Airport Consultative Committee to represent
the Chamber. This committee will meet on Nov. 29th. The focus of the meeting will be to update members of the Committee
and the new Mayor and Council on the status of the work to date and to review for discussion several governance options
that might be considered by Council with respect to airport operations and development.
