BC Transit Games Time Monthly Souvenir Passes Now On Sale

BC TransitMonthly souvenir passes are now on sale for BC Transit's enhanced service during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

During BC Transit's enhanced Games Time service period, February 1 to 28, a separate fare structure will be in place to reflect the increased service available, the expanded service area and the specific needs of each community. Purchasing one of the three attractively priced passes for the entire month of February is a cost-effective and convenient option for frequent users:

  • Whistler: February 2010 Pass, $38.50, valid on all local Whistler routes
  • Pemberton: February 2010 Pass, $50, valid on all local routes in Pemberton and Whistler, plus the #99 Pemberton Connector
  • Squamish: February 2010 Pass, $95, valid on all local routes in Squamish and Whistler, plus the #98 Squamish Connector

Whistler TransportationA one-way trip on the Pemberton Connector is $6 and $10 on the Squamish Connector. Cash fares in Whistler are $2 per trip, with a transfer available upon request. Existing fare products are still available for in-town BC Transit routes in Squamish and Pemberton.

To encourage spectators to take transit to their event, tickets to Olympic events include complimentary access to BC Transit's services during the entire day of their scheduled event until 4:00 am the next morning.

"With the enhanced service we'll be providing for the month of February, transit will be the most efficient and effective way to travel around Whistler during the Games," said Manuel Achadinha, President and CEO of BC Transit.

BC Transit services will increase five-fold in Whistler and the bus fleet will expand from 39 to 135 buses to serve the estimated 2.1 million customers expected during the month of February.

Pemberton and Squamish connectors will operate 24 hours a day. Existing Whistler routes will run more often with eight new routes.

As of March 1, BC Transit will return to regular winter service levels, with some service enhancements for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

Souvenir monthly passes are on sale at a number of outlets in Whistler, Squamish, and Pemberton. Customers may also purchase passes online through the BC Transit website or from Tourism Whistler at 1-800-WHISTLER.
