From the start of spring ‘till the end of fall, your outdoor office is guaranteed an amazing view of the Whistler Valley. Then, when winter arrives, whether you ski, board, or snowmobile, you’ll have a few months to recharge and get up the mountain.
Garibaldi Tree is an established tree company with nearly three decades in business servicing Whistler and Pemberton. We offer tree removal, tree trimming and pruning, hedge trimming, tree stump removal, lot clearing, and consulting. We’re a small but robust team of tree care experts, climbing arborists and groundworkers.

We’re looking for an experienced climbing arborist with at least five years of experience to join our team. In this role, the candidate will perform all aspects of tree work in residential, commercial and municipal settings, including tree pruning, removals, clean up, stump grinding, and equipment maintenance. The candidate will also communicate with clients where appropriate and ensure that projects are carried out efficiently and safely.
This role requires a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday. Our official hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; however, they are subject to change depending on the weather. For example, in the summer months, we typically start earlier and finish earlier to beat the heat.
Plan and perform safe tree service operations according to project directions and instructions.
Safely climb, prune and remove trees using industry-standard techniques.
Operate and maintain equipment such as saws, chippers, stump grinders, ladders, pruners, ropes and rigging.
Safely operate our chipper truck and other vehicles, as required.
Evaluate and control hazards to effectively maintain a safe work site.
Collaborate with and lead an experienced crew to ensure a continuous workflow.
Interact and communicate with clients in a professional, friendly manner to ascertain their needs and expectations, ensuring high levels of satisfaction throughout the job process.
Please note that in addition to the key responsibilities listed above, other responsibilities based on skills and experience may be discussed, such as:
Perform tree health assessments using industry-standard techniques and tools.
Conduct project estimates.
Qualifications and Experience:
Five or more years of experience working in the residential tree care industry.
An unrestricted Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving history (air endorsement is preferred) and experience driving chipper trucks and equipment.
Knowledge of trees, shrubs and plants native to our area.
Knowledge and experience in the safe operation of equipment used in residential tree care, including saws, chippers, stump grinders, ladders, and pruners.
Knowledge and experience in the safe use of climbing systems – SRT/DRT.
Knowledge and experience in the safe use of rigging systems, including crane-assisted tree removal.
ISA certification is preferred, or an acceptable combination of training and experience.
TRAQ certification is preferred, or an acceptable combination of training and experience.
First aid certification is preferred but not required.
A positive and team-oriented attitude.
A growth mindset – you’re not afraid of feedback and love learning.
Strong leadership skills – you’re comfortable communicating with and leading a team.
The drive to persevere through hard work and variable weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
Able to continuously move for multiple hours.
Able to lift, push and pull objects over 50 lbs.
Comfortable with considerable exposure to the elements such as variable temperatures and loud noises.
Strong communication skills and the ability to use these skills to connect with our clients and your team.
The start date for this role depends on when our 2024 work season begins; sometime between March 15th and April 1 is expected.
