Project Manager appointed to lead Pemberton Community Economic Development Strategy and Plan
— Shannon Story awarded two-year contract

The Pemberton & District Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Pemberton Area Economic Development Collaborative, is pleased to announce the appointment of Shannon Story to a two year contract position as Economic Development Project Manager.

The position is funded through a $100,000 grant from the BC Rural Dividend Program, with the outcome of crafting a Community Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan for the region.

This project is a two-year contract to establish the economic development landscape in the Pemberton Area and to develop a Community Economic Development Strategy & Action Plan which will include Nuk’w7ántal’ (“We help each other”) Community and Territory engagement.

Shannon Story is a professional with over 20 years of experience in management roles in the fields of government, stakeholder relations, communications, tourism and marketing. She worked at the Resort Municipality of Whistler for 13 years as the Manager of Legislative Services and Manager of Protective Services. Prior to that, she worked for Tourism Whistler for seven years as the Manager of Membership and Visitor Services. Shannon was heavily involved in the execution of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Whistler. She held the position of Chief of Protocol and hosted 125 dignitaries from around the world including the Prime Minister of Canada, Governor General of Canada, King of Norway and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Shannon is currently a consultant and is the Executive Director for the Lower Mainland Local Government Association.

Shannon has lived in Pemberton since 2000 with her husband Steve and is raising her two children here. She is passionate about the Pemberton community and is excited to help steer it in a sustainable and prosperous direction.
